The Kolosko-Dimow Duo
This is Carl’s collaboration with critically acclaimed guitarist Nathan Kolosko. The duo formed in 2005 and has released their first recording, nos•tal•gia - music from brazil, venezuela & argentina on Fleur de Son Classics. nos•tal•gia features works by Villa-Lobos, Antonio Lauro, Baden Powell and others. Kolosko and Dimow collaborated on original arrangements for this recording, which frequently feature the unique and enchanting combination of bass flute and guitar.
"...such artistry, you may find yourself levitated a few inches off the floor ... the sound is both celestial and lively." - Portland Press Herald

The World Flute Trio
The World Flute Trio is Carl Dimow on western flutes, Nicole Rabata on wooden Irish flute, and Phil Nyokai James on Japanese bamboo shakuhachi flute.
One of New England's most unusual performing ensembles, The World Flute Trio presents solo and ensemble flute music that explores three different musical traditions. From the dance rhythms and emotional intensity of eastern European Klezmer music to the lilting and soaring melodies of Ireland to the meditative sounds of the Japanese bamboo shakuhachi, The World Flute Trio promises an evening that is as educational as it is mesmerizing.

Zhok Therapy
Zhok Therapy is the unruly alter-ego of the Casco Bay Tummlers. Zhok Therapy still has one toe in the klezmer tradition, but has expanded their repertoire to include Greek, Balkan, and Middle Eastern music. Adding further influences from jazz and blues, their deep grooves and improvisations are both innovative and well rooted in a rich and varied ethnicity. "Zhok Therapy will remedy whatever ails with their cross pollinations."
(A zhok, by the way, is a type of Jewish and Middle Eastern rhythm.)
The Resonance Residence
The Resonance Residence is an unusual improvising trio. The music they perform is created on the spot and draws on a wide variety of influences: world music, folk music, classical composition and jazz. Think sound sculpture and musical conversation. The pieces range from serious to silly – with an emphasis on beauty and resonance.
The musicians are Carl on flutes and occasional strings, vocalist Andrea Goodman and Mark Tipton on trumpet. They have been performing together since 2002.
She-Who-Loves
Carl composed and performs the music for this production with the award-winning Figures of Speech Theater. The show, which opened to rave reviews in 2001, is an adaptation of a Comanche legend of a girl who saves her village from drought. The style of presentation is abstract and meditative, drawing heavily on the Japanese Noh style of masked theater and movement. Performed in intimate theatrical spaces by vocalist Andrea Goodman, musician Carl Dimow, puppeteer Carol Farrell and dancer Mia Kanazawa.
